When I did shifts I used to hit the sack as soon as I got in. I couldn't get my head around eating anything other than breakfast items either, certainly couldn't have beer. Another bloke used to treat it like he was on days, so he'd go shopping and other normal stuff, have a few beers with a meal, watch TV and then time his sleep so he got 8 hours and woke up in time to come in. Strange.

Simply on the wrong way, i.e. 'arrows' facing backwards or fitted the wrong way on the rim, so the outer was the inner??? I think your appeal will be a lot easier with the former, as you'd just claim it was an emergency spare and a 50:50 shot on it being for the right side. Does seem harsh TBH.

Hmm. I've got a lot of time for the Police and you've either got a bad 'un or your mate was asking for him to find something wrong by being a tool. Either way, a calmly approached appeal should hopefully do the trick. Going in all guns blazing is going to make him dig his heels in.
