I was looking around some cruising websites this morning when I came across http://www.corsasport.co.uk/board/viewthread.php?tid=261832&page=2. Basically they had posted some pictures from a meet with one of them being a Golf MK 4 riding on A8's, looking very neat with the .:R line bonnet bra. Immediatly the car was ridiculed and laughed at.

I've signed up to defend the only guy there who defended the MK 4. How about we show a little support for the guy with the Yellow VW.

What a complete bunch of c's.. a corsa board deciding on styling. lmfao.  Brilliant.. just shows how some people jus don't have any taste whatsoever.  Bra's to me are part looks/styling, part functional.

That thread on that board just goes to show why some elements of the car clubs / forum world are so crap and some (mostly the vw scene, i've found) is cool.

There was a thread on this on the vortex recently, the subject was "what is it about the vw scene ?" (or something similar) - Basically, it was asking what makes the vw scene what it is, why is it so friendly and such a cool scene ? - It was summarised by the vw scene is non competitive, it's (generally) not about who's got more horsepower or who's got the biggest baked bean can exhaust or who's got the biggest wings west snow plough, it's just about enjoying quality motors with cool people who share the same passion, specifically for dubs, but also quality cars in general.

It's like a lifestyle, you go to the shows and meets and there's people who seem to live vw, it almost becomes more than the cars, it's like a way of life - though I think this permeates through the aircooled side a bit more than the h2o side.

To my mind, that what's it's about. - It's just a dub thing Cool [H]

On another note about the corsa's.  We were driving through town last week and there was the most ridiculous corsa I have ever seen.

It had a horrendously loud exhaust, (i think the car was a 1.2, Y reg, in a nice shade of light, metallic green, you know that insipid not quite anything colour that corsa's seem to come in Ick! [+o(]) and, attached to the roofline, just forward of the rear hatch, was the biggest wing I have ever seen. Imagine you are looking the car square on from the back, the wing was wider than the top of the car.  It must have been at least six inches deep.  It looked so, so stupid.

The thing is, the lad driving it, musta looked at it and thought, "wow, that looks great, i'd love to spend (probably - i'm guessing here) £500 on a massive rear wing for my poxhall corsa" - As we drove past (k was driving, me in the passenger seat) I almost wet myself with laughter.. I actually had tears runnign down my face Big Smile [:D]  This week, I'm gonna have a look up in the town centre were the maxy p kids hang out and see if it's there. and i'll take some pics and post em up

To be fair, i'm not a fan of the bonnet bras - but I still think that car is veeeeeeeery nice.
It just annoys me how they have no other way to articulate themselves when it comes to critiquing cars, other than to say "It's GAY!! THE OWNER IS GAY!!"

Then they said that if he was just following the euro styling trend then he was a sheep, and needless to say "gay".

However, im sure burberry is a styling trend...or am I mistaken?

Exactly.  They cannot say what they want to say, other than "It's gay" etc.  Very descriptive, why not just keep quiet and do the world a favour.  Still, I guess it's difficult to type much more than that, in between flipping burgers, when your a jonny five stars in macdoodles.

They couldn't be more wrong- the owner is called Lyndsay and she lives about 10 miles from me!

She's a member on here and has been to a few meets- I think her name is Golfbird.

Yeah, all dem corsa's man they is well wikkid innit ! Wink [;)]

Yep, the fact that they slate her car for having abra fitted to it; that they don't know the owner is female; that they can only slate someone and call them gay - says a lot about them really, doesn't it !

Chrsit, if they met Lyns they'd probably all fancy her or summink.. probably all spotty little oiks.

i encounter a few nobs locally who are set in their ways that "phatt kitted corsas" are the be all and end all of automotive awe.

they simply cant be educated, and persuaded that their 1.4 SR corsas are heaps of scrap.

Kate's mum n stepdad had a rental corsa when they were over for xmas with us.  It had a three cylinder engine.  It was horrendously underpowered.  It kind of gathered momentum rather than accelerating !

To be honest I've just popped across and read the thread on Corsa sport (it's about a police liason meet in my town funnily enough), and I think the guys on here who have posted there have gone way over the top.

No-one has said the car is gay, or poo, or not as good as a K-plate Corsa with 3grand of badly fitting bodykit.  The pic has been posted because people thought it was one of the best cars at the meet.  One guy said the bra was gay and a lot of people agreed.  To be honest I don't like it much either, and even Lyns has admitted she doesn't think it looks great.  But it's not the car they are slagging.

It's a bit sad that we have to resort to slagging and stereotypes- my brother has a Corsa which is modified very much in the dub 'less is more' kind of style.  There are just as many tastefully modded ones as bodykitted monstrosities! Remember we all had to start somewhere, and I bet many with Corsas will move on to classier marques in future- just don't alienate them by making such arrogant rude comments.

My brother s Corsa which is for sale as he's just bought a Civic Jordan.

I have said what I have to say and agree that there is no point going over to their forums and flooding it to defend the Golf as you will just get abuse!

Leave them have their opinions of other cars and leave them to it I say. As for Corsa's I agree a great car for a teenager learning to drive cheap insurance etc etc

I think they might have a valid point about the bra.  Not my cup of tea at all.  That's a beautiful looking Golf, apart from the bra.  However Corsa's are absolutely awful, and i would never own one!!!!

That looks great, tastefully lowered, sweet wheels, no snow ploughs.  But how many corsas do you see like that ?  So it's not rude to say the owner must be gay because they have a car bra I guess.

Someone has "apologised on behalf of the golf drivers" - Err no, apologise on behalf of yourself, but don't include me in that.

I think you can sum up their attitude with "Your not welcome here" and then the lovely picture they've posted.  Need we say more ?
