    Ok,

so its probably about time i did a build thread, i have done a little bit with the ole' mowtar so would now like to tell you what I have done!

It all began in september 2009, when I bought a green golf mk4 1.9tdi 90brake from my mum (i know...cue the jokes here!). She charged me £100 though so BONUS! And she has had it since about 13k miles, full veedub history and VERY VERY well looked after! All the miles were motorway miles as my dad used it to commute every day (160 miles a day!).

Anyway, it had 200,000 on the clock when I bought it. So, quite old, but going strong still!

This is one of the first photos I have of it, in the mass of snow we had

I vowed when I bought it, I would never mod it, and save for a newer car! Spoke too soon...

Anyway, for christmas, my bro and sis bought me 'additions' to the car! One got me DRL's and the other got me 70% tints (rear of b-pillar).

After humming and ha-ing I decided to put them on.

DRL's were mounted round the lower side vents and wired directly into the sidelight bulb holders! (scary moment removing the front bumper the first time!)

Tints were not too bad, especially as it was my first effort

    here is a pic!

    and the DRL's

Anyway, I was hooked...once you start modding...you cannot stop!

Next, I am afraid, was a bit of a ricer mod Embarrassed

I got some blue LEDs and fitted them as interior footwell lighting in the car, front footwells were blue LED strips and the rear is done with blue LED 'spotlights'! they are wired directly to the rear powersocket but switched in the front passenger footwell (in a nice discreet position)

At the same time I did my headunit, which is a fold out screen, with capability for reversing cam, tv, two independant screens, dvds etc! This came from my girlfriend, so MORE cheapness. I went to caraudiosecurity in hayes on their sale and got 6" vibe blackhead door speakers reduced by £60!! I intended to replace all my door speakers but in the end i decided to build a new parcel shelf! taking a 9mm piece of MDF i cut it to shape, screwed in an amp and carpeted it! also put in some more blue leds! The amp came from a friend (free) as did the carpet! MORE cheapness. No photos atm though sorry.

I was annoyed with only having one 9v socket in the front of the car and didnt want to buy one of those silly 'extra port' things, it takes too much space, so i moved my rear 9v socket into the front passenger footwell. nice easy job again, photos to come.

My next purchase was a debadged grille, which i sprayed with halfrauds paint (looks good!). I also bought a bonnet extension, but it looked horrible, so i took it off again!

debadged the back, and sharan badged it with a free badge from a scrappy!

Dewipered it, and added a few nice stickers (i.e. ukmkiv's .net!)

Fitted a reversing camera just above the numberplate, running the wires behind the plate and up through the bumper. Power comes from 9v socket and AV wire goes down side of car under door bumps.

I did the 'cut the oem aerial' mod, (free stubby aerial!)

I found some £22 (i think eibach) lowering springs on ebay, so fitted them! down 40mm approx!

Then, one day, I found some wheels on eBay, nice and cheap and on my doorstep, so I picked these up for a snitch (inc tyres...super cheap!)

bought some VW centre caps from ebay (£0.02!)

My most recent mod was my engine bay colour code...I admit the bay is filthy in this pic, but i have cleaned it since!

Oh, and I got some ebay black vinyl and did the b-pillars!

    Still to come:

    Interior

    • brushed ally effect vinyl on centre console components
    • push start button

    ICE

    • front headrest screens
    • twin screen trunk mount

    Exterior

    • front anni lower valance
    • rear bumper of some sort (perhaps r-line)
    • Kamei front grille
    • meshed lower grilles

    Mechanical

    • Some sort of coilovers!
    • EBC greenstuff pads (and uprated discs to match)

    Engine

    • .216 injectors (properly fit! I tried to fit them but they caused problems, so they are out at the moment for proper cleaning!)
    • Turbo intercooler spray system (this is being fitted tommorow! by me!)
    • EGR delete
    • PD150 turbo (if i can find one!)
    • Remap by storm developments
    • 80mm intake mod

So, lots and lots left, I am sure I have missed something or other. If anyone is curious about anything I have done just ask, and ill try and explain in more detail! If i explained in this post I would be here forever!

(Constructive) criticism and other comments welcome! Ill leave you with some VAG@ACE pics...

    Thanks for reading this!

looking good there. 5dr bright green pearl FTW!!!!!

Only thing im not liking is the DRLs.  They just dont suit the mk4 front end IMHO.

No-one likes my DRL's Crying I thought the way they were fitted is quite original and i think they add a certain 'je nes sais quoi' to my car! but hey, each to their own huh?!

Oh yes Bright green pearl is great...especially when you tell halfords 'C6M', bright green pearlescent, they always get massively confused! only problem is...my gf HATES it! I asked her to buy me a respray for my 21st, but got a resounding NO! damn Stick out tongue

As some of you may know, i attempted to put in some .216 injectors and failed miserably. Had to call out the aa in the end. Then...stupidly...

I decided to give it another shot. Started puttin the new injector 1 in, and promptly sheared the clamp bolt in the head!! PANIC!!

Rang my local garage, who said 'not a chance of drilling it out, but we may know someone who can. He is very hard to track down, as he gets flown all over the world to drill bolts out, we have had cars waiting 2 months for him to fix. Chances of him being around to do it...0.00000!%!'

I thought 'oh crap' no car for 2 months.

5 minutes later they ring back 'incredibly, here is in the area for just 3 hours this afternoon...get the car here asap and he will do it.'

called aa for a tow, next morning, car back to normal and only £140!! Full dues to THE THREAD DOCTOR!!! good man

So it was with some trepidation I decided to try a third time. Remembered the old saying '3rd time lucky', and hour later NEW INJECTORS!

    pulls like a train....!

Plus I now also have a turbo intercooler spray. Probably one of the easier mods I have done. it uses the spray jets from a picasso! Makes a noticeable difference when it was hot and lost power! now its cold...not so necessary, but a cool mod all the same.

Now saving dough for the R-line bumpers!
