I am sure if it's been written off by the insurance the current mot will be invalid as they would not be able to sell a write of with a current mot.
The MOT is still valid. No insurance company has the right or authority to invalidate an MOT. VOSA may possibly have such authority, although I don't know. However, having an MOT and being in a roadworthy condition are two different things. It can be unroadworthy (and probably is) following the write off, depending on why it was written off in the first place. If it's written off because the interior has been stripped, or the paintwork has been vandalised, or because there's body damage which doesn't make it unroadworthy, then it's fine to drive providing it's taxed and you have valid insurance.
