    Hi Guys,

Have had a problem with my sound system recently and cannot for the life of me figure out what is wrong!

Basically, Whenever I go through a pothole or brake I get a screaming noise/interference coming from my speakers which goes away immediately after. Under acceleration I never get the noise.

I initially thought that my brake light signal would be causing the problem seeing as my rca leads are run down the same sill as them. However - I think im right in saying the brake light will be DC, which should not cause problems. Also the fact that it now is happening when I go on rough road/ bumps this seems very unlikely.

I have a 450w amp in the boot powering my two front speakers and a 900w amp powering my sub, the rca cable for the front speakers is taken from the output rca ports of my subwoofer amplifier because I only have a single rca port on the back of my HU. I have checked all connections and lecky taped up all bare wire.

    Anybody have any insight?

    amp problem? cabling? headunit?

    Kindest Regards in advance.

Can you describe the noise in more detail please?

    Chris.

could be a loose connection somewhere unless you're going through radioactive potholes?

millions of half started projects that are slowly coming to fruition... stay tuned!

    Car's running like a dream!

    Hi Chris,

Well it is basically a screaming sound if I brake hard, really loud! As if I had it turned up to full volume just as an oprah singer has hit her highest note and held it until i release the brake. It sometimes continues for about half a second after I release the brakes and I often get some crackling until i accelerate. If I am driving on bumpy road/braking lightly etc then it tends to just be crackling - still reasonably loud.

Also, the screaming noise I just described seems to happen when I open the passenger door and will continue until I close it/yank off HU facia (quite embarrasing haha)!

I have just assumed that it wont be the connection in the back of the speaker because the noise comes from both speakers - which leads me to assume it is the amp/rca leads?

    Really stumped.

    Many Thanks

It could be - but I have checked all connections, apart from the connection on the rear of the speaker simply because I cant face pulling it all out again! They all seem tight though. I am starting to think it may be something to do with one of my rca cables - possibly split somewhere and is touching metal..

    Cheers

Ok, took off passenger door card tonight and found that the speaker was only just hanging on the edge of the speaker hole (by the magnet - cringe!) Obviously someone has closed my door too hard and it has somehow dislodged itself.

However this was not causing the problem - it was infact the cables connected to the rear of the speaker. Just as I was about to say f' it and go to bed I yanked off all the lecky tape i had used before behind the speaker to make sure the cables didnt get interference/ come loose and it just suddenly worked without any problems.Guess its a bit of a 'if it aint broke dont fix it'. Still though I dont understand what was causing the problem as there is no bare wire at all behind the speaker..odd!

Been for a half hour drive and its not caused any problems. Just have to hope it doesnt come back because I have no idea how to fix it haha!

At least that's one oddity out of the way,not sure how electrical tape can stop interference though?

    Chris.

I mean I wrapped up all bare wire/solder joins I thought may cause problems in electrical tape to hopefully stop any crackling etc. Turned out it had negative effect! Also with the heat this week, the dynamat on the inside of my driver door has somehow got stuck to my window haha, not having a good time of it just now!

    Thanks anyway Chris
