Okay, after the success of the Southern Run (whilst it was only a handfull of people, nobody crashed, so as far as im concerned....success) and the Brighton meet, i thought that now the weather is starting to get good, its worth revisiting!

So without further ado, i bring you the Return of the Southern Run!

The route is a reasonable 50 mile almost-round-trip from Shoreham Airfield, along the A27 to Newhaven, then along the coast to the Birling Gap Hotel for food/drink/banter/pushing people off Beachy Head etc...

Finally, the return run along the A259 back to Brighton to Madeira Drive. If we continue from there, is up to those who turn up!

Its a lot easier than the Southern Blast in terms of route complexity, as well as being pretty fast. It also hopefully is of easier access to all than Devil's Dyke, as Shoreham is easy access, and has a lot of space for us to meet up.

There is also a provision for stopping at the base of the Old Fort in Newhaven which has an epically large carpark, fantastic scenery, and even more possibilities of pushing people into the sea!

Lots of meets happen Reading, gulford and Portsmouth way, but as far as I am aware, there are not any meets in the Bournemouth/Poole area organised on here.

I know that tidyVag do one occasionally, but my issue there is that it is a sunday and I work 12-10 on a sunday.

I wanted to know who on here would be up for either a weeknight meet once a month or a sat or something. I finish work at 4pm mon-fri, so i am flexible on the time/night, whatever is convenient for the majority.

See if we can get an idea of any interest and then organise something, even if it is a brief hello and trip to a Bournemouth car-park to chat VAG.

Epic-ish Southern Blast - 21st November - Dorking to Littlehampton to Guilford

Okay, so i feel my uh...feeler...went well enough to warrant a fixed date to try and get some people onboard with this!

So, without further ado...Epic-ish Southern Blast - 21st November - Dorking to Littlehampton to Guilford!!!

The route is 80 miles, semi round trip from Dorking Railway Station, down the A24 to Littlehampton. From there, we will head west onto the A27 until the end of the dual-carridgeway section. At this point, there are services in the form of a BP and 24-7 McDonalds. From there, we head north on the A284 / A29 up as far as the A281 (Guilford Road) where we turn east, and follow the road into Guilford. Finally, a fast blast down the A3 to the services just south of Ripley.

I've driven this route many times, and it offers some fantastic National limit roads, along with some fantastic scenery, even in the dead of night (the A29 runs abeam some of the north and south downs, which offers fantastic views of the towns around, lit up). There are also minimal speed cameras along the route. A small handfull on the A24 on the slower parts (couple of short 40 zones on some of the bypasses) and one or two on the A29 (again on some of the slower parts).

I will be supplying printed maps with the route, however i would GREATLY suggest bringing a satnav if at all possible.

THOSE COMING FROM MIDDSEX/SURREY/LONDON: Meeting point is the Dorking Railway Station, for a 9PM departure.
THOSE MEETING US IN LITTLEHAMPTON: The estimated run down to the services is 57minutes, but with the possibility of traffic, i would suggest meeting us at 1015PM.

RETURN LEG: We will depart the services at approx 11PM for the run north. Again, estimates are for about a 50-60 minute drive back to the services on the A3. Do not feel abliged to run with us the whole way, nor even stop at the A3 services upon our return. This also goes for those down south. I appreciate its a sizable run, so if you feel like peeling off at any point, by all means do so! My mobile number will be on the map, so if you decide to split mid-run, just send a txt so we don't all think you've gone and wrapped it round a tree!

Original route/plan below, read anyway!

Okay, so here is the idea...

I am building my car to drive it, and as much fun as the meets are, i wanna see if people are up for a mini-road-trip. The idea is simple...

The route follows A and B roads only, 90% of which are national/de-restricted, and of the fast flowing and twisty variety. The route runs from the Southbound A3 services back to the Northbound A3 services, via the A25, Dorking, A24, Littlehampton, A27, Hayling Island, then A3.

Total run, 132 miles, roughly 3.5hours total driving, however with pitstops, larking around etc, that could change.

Plan would be to meet at around 930PM ish at the A3 services, then leave dead on 10pm. There are a handful of mandatory pit-stops to allow for stragglers to catch up, and also to take advantage of services (and for that matter, some nice photo locations). Ideally arriving at the Littlehampton services around 1130/1200PM for munchies (24/7 MacD's and BP).

Ideally, i wanna run this on a Saturday night with a view as i've said, to leaving around 10pm, to arrive back at the Northbound services for around 2am.

I've got a couple of mates who are interested in this, even tho they arent strictly Dubs or even Vags, but i'm looking for 5 people or so at a minimum. Of course, the more the better!

A/F - Southbound / Northbound services on A3, Start / End
B/C - Services in Dorking / Station Carpark (well lit, lots of photo-potential)
D - DinDins! McDonalds and BP Services outside Littlehampton, 24/7
E - Hayling island, last pit-stop. Down on seafront, not so much lit in the carpark, but if the moon is out, could be some excellent photos, else there is a lit area outside the old funfair.

Let me know what y'all think, and if this garners enough interest, mayb we do this in a couple of weeks time?
