    Hi

Basically an uninsured driver scraped his transit across the passenger side of my car. Manage to get most of the paint off, but have something like a stain running along the top half. Took it to a body shop and they said it would possibly come off by buffing it, basically getting the coat underneath out.

Is there anything i can use to get this stuff off, tried clay bar and rubbing with some cotton cloths, but does not come off. It can only be seen if your facing it directly, so not too much of a problem

Any ideas would be helpful, have photos, but not with me, will post later.

You'll have to use cutting compound to remove the damage. Depending on how severe it is one of the Poorboys range should do it.

However, if you haven't got access to a buffer its probably best to the get the bodyshop to do it, as their buffer will do a better job than human hands will ever do!

i think i will take it to a body shop

dont want to mess it up by buying a buffer and not knowing how to use it

At the scene of the incident:

    What it looks like now:

Took me approx 3 hours to get it to the stage it is at right now. The cars a bit dirty, didnt get the chance to wash it this weekend.

So yes, anyone with a PC willing to help me out?

yeah looks to me that its just maked the clearcoat so i would think a PC would have this looking as good as new.

That'll probably need to be wet sanded before attacking with PC. Even then it will take quite a bit of time as a strong compound will have to be used.

Just take it to a Bodyshop, they'll have it like new in about an hour Yes [Y]

So went down to my local Homebase and got some Super Fine Wet or Dry sanding paper. Got back and decided to start on just on door. Cleaned the whole door thorougly and used wet paper to rub genltly over the marks that were (started on about 2 square inches). The bit i sanded turned white. Which scared me a bit. Washed it down and it was very white. Things were not looking good.

Decided to go and get some T-Cut. So dabbed a little over the bit i sanded and using slightly rough polishing cloth, started doing the circular motion, reminding me of Karate Kid. Had absolutely no idea how it would turn out.

After about ten minutes of rubbing on the same spot, i decided to give that bit a wash, and let it dry. I was amazed, theres no more marks, wooooohoooo, was going to do the rest, but it started raining.

So will be finishing this off this week sometime, will post pics of it. And yes, it seems its only the clear coat thats been affected.

Thanks guys for the advice and tips, one last thing though, should i apply a clear coat after doing this or would waxing and polishing do the job? Dont want it rusting or peeling.
