    Spec.

Basically all options aside from leather/sunroof/Nav on a 56 plate GTI DSG - plus:

    Revo Stage2 @ 265/300tq-ish
    Milltek non-res & 3" downpipe
Hybrid Evoms & custom intake wrapped in Mylar
Autotech lightweight ARBs (less than 10lbs the pair)
Whiteline anti-lift kit (possibly THE best MKV handling mod ever, speak to Julian at Balance Motorsport)
    Speedline Turini 8x18s and 225 PS2s
OZ Monte Carlo magnesium track wheels with PSCups.
Alcon 343mm 4-pots with track pads & braided hoses all round, Motul RBF600.
    Eibach coilovers
    Polybushed
    VF Engineering lower mount
    OEM German spec LED tails

It's all about handling and stopping for my track days/ring trips/fun drives out - I'm happy with the looks it left Wolfsburg with.

I love the car, even more so now I've tweaked it. It's done Curborough, Donnington, the 'Ring last year without fuss and will be starting the next seasons track tour in full on attack mode.

Detailing courtesy of the A-team - Tabs, Gary Cundliffe & Jonny Duvet

    Thanks:

Mike at VW Speed, always a constant source of friendly, helpful advice and genuine enthusiasm for Dubs. The first person I go to, always and without exception - even if he doesn't sell what I'm after, he'll find it. I try to do business with people I like and trust, rather than just by best price. He manages both (the generous forum discount helps too!!)

Votex in Congleton. The ONLY people I let touch my car for the same reasons as above. The true meaning of a VAG specialist, they know VAG inside out, they build and prepare race cars, they employ the best people and they know what they're doing and talking about... not just a flashy shop front, all mouth and no trousers tuner. I've used them for the past 4 years, having had some bad experiences elsewhere and I'd never take a car anywhere else, or recommend anyone else.

Julian at Balance Motorsport, great guy and super helpful.

I'll get some daytime pics done, but these will do for now. Tabs on rolling cam by the way with my EOS 450D.

Night and day Steve, mods aren't really cosmetic so it does look quite stock - it's all about the dynamics. With the exception of the LED tails, but even then they're for safety as the originals are bloody useless.

Sorry Steve, handling is night and day!

Steering response is quicker, ride is smoother as the coils aren't having to work as hard, rotating mass is reduced so it's like shifting nearly 40kg out of the car - as a result it also picks up and slows down quicker.

Now the brakes are one too that's a bit more unsprung weight removed and some progressive, face smashing power.

Sooooooo happy with it now its finished! I've updated the first post with spec.

It's 3M masking tape, used whilst machining the car to protect the rubber trim pieces from the buffer head and the polish splatter Wink

Yep, what Beddie said - just keeps the white crap off the plastics.

Thanks for the kind comments everyone. I'm pretty sure it's finished now, certainly is in terms of 'high value' mods, so that's how it stands...

Although I do have an S3 intercooler lined up, and possibly another couple of hidden performance parts, and then a custom-ish stage2 map....but nothing serious Zip it!

    Cheers Lee,

I am at Curborough, you coming along? I had a seriously knackered set of F1s, standard ARBs and no prior track knowledge last time out - so I can only get better.... maybe!!

A sub 30 second run is the target, I think I can lose 1.13 seconds and considering the car's weight I think that would be a great achievement for it/me.

I'll be there to spectate. Not been there for quite a few years. Hope the Reeve's Mk1 will be there tho. Love seeing that wee machine fly around the track.

You should come down and do Castle Combe in July!

Greenlight won't cover Combe on their track insurance, unless that's changed recently? - I'd love to drive it though, so I'll look into an alternative and see if I can get a stoppy at Ck's.

you won't/don't need insurance......... quite sensible these days as they limit number of cars out there per session.

you just have to trust yourself to not mash it like some silly RS4 owner last year!
